Ever Get the Feeling the Universe is Trying To Tell You Something?

by DavalosMcCormack on January 30, 2009

So, Shirley came home from a frantic day of running around since 6am eager to put pen to paper – or in this case finely manicured finger to keyboard – only to find our internet server was down. Or the wireless connection wasn’t working. Or we hadn’t paid the phone bill.

All she knew was something with our link to the world wide interwebby thing wasn’t working and the idea for an article that had been simmering and brewing in her brain all day was left with nowhere to go.

Then I came home with a neat idea for a piece that I’d been thinking about on my way home on my scooter only to find Shirley cursin’ and a screamin’ at our little Mac and threaten’ it with physical violence. So we left to go visit a friend.

By the time we got back the wireless connection was back up but we realised that perhaps our little Mac was telling us to chill, to let those articles simmer some more till they were like a fine pot roast, rich, ripe and perfectly succulent.

Either that or we were just too lazy to write anything.

The end result is that sometimes you just have to take a break from day to day stuff, to give yourself some breathing room, to give your brain a chance to reflect a little. You begin to appreciate that you could write something, but it would be forced and no fun for us to write or you to read. And that would defeat the whole point of what we’re doing.

So, for now, our brains are taking a break. Normal service will be resumed Monday.
