Man, give it a rest!

Do you feel as stressed as I do?  Gosh, I’m running on empty from all this bad news. As I write this I’m hearing “The economy is at risk, America is at risk, our retirement is at risk!”  …and in other news.

As Kevin would say, “Blimey! What the heck is going on!”  Financial Markets are “Crashing”.  What can we do?  It is a dizzying time in our history, and if you don’t have much history, like my daughter who is only 23, it’s ….well, it’s hard to find a job!  Whatever your experience is, we are in stressful times, but there are good things coming from these uncertain times.  Okay, so you clicked expecting to find the good things, right?  Well, hmmm, there is no guarantee, but right now people are paying attention, they are stressed and we are all wondering what to do.

I have an idea.  Here’s what we can do.  BREATHE!  That’s right, take a couple of deep breaths. Stop focusing on things outside your control and make sure you take care of yourself.

Assess yourself.  Are you filled with anxiety?  Are you reacting to the news…… Does the news actually effect you?  Breathe.

What can you actually do?  Run to the Bank and take all of your money out?  No need to. You are covered by the government.  The bank will not leave with your money; unless you have more than $250,000 in one account you are covered and even then, if you are married or have a joint account you are insured for a lot more.

Do not over react, do not be a victim, decide on what is best for YOU.  Can you do that? Yes you can!

These are hard times but this is not the end of the world.  You have good things in your life, remember them.  What can you do to make your family more secure financially, and if you can’t make them more secure financially, can you do something to make life a little better?

When I feel pressure building and find myself in stressful times I turn to basic nurturing things, like cooking. I find something as simple as cooking a nice dinner is a wonderful way of calming myself, making me feel that I am doing something for myself and those I care for.

So, as the storm clouds continue to threaten our economy why not make a stew, do something thoughtful for a friend, family member or loved one, take some time to care for yourself.

We are all overwhelmed, but we have our attitudes and our outlook, and our hope.  We can get through this.  You can get through this.  We can all get through this.  Do it!  Take care of yourself and those you love.

Do not over react,  decide for yourself, make choices for yourself.  Believe in yourself.  It’s not always simple, but it is always healthy!
