Time Piece

Take some time to consider – TIME. Does time really exist without us to consider it? Is it like the tree in the forest that makes no sound if there is no one to hear it fall? Is it like one hand clapping? Time might be something that needs a partner, us. Is time something to have, to possess; or is it something we create, like making the time to see a friend.
How do you create time for the things you want to do, or do you?

Have you ever heard people say, “I’d like to paint, but I just don’t have the time”, “I’d like to exercise but… I’d like to meditate but there’s just no time.” No time to read. No time to think. No time to exercise. No time to quiet your mind of chatter. No time to cook, or play, or see your mom? No time.

What don’t you have time for? As a certified hypnotherapist, I have clients who come to me for many things; a safe haven from their hectic lives, or just some time to stop and relax. They always thank me for helping them quiet their mind and stop the constant chatter in their brain. They come for some time.

Time isn’t something we have, it’s something we create. We make the time for things that come up that we feel are important. I have a good friend who is going in for surgery, she needs someone to pick her up and take her home. She asked me if I had the time. I told her I’d “make” the time because I think she is important. We make time for things we think we need to do, like the laundry, work, schlepping the kids to play dates and soccer. We make time for others and then we drop ourselves on the couch in front of the tv exhausted until it’s time for bed and a new day. We don’t make the time for things that are equally important, like ourselves. How do you make the time to keep yourself happy and healthy?

It turns out, that it’s not really about the time at all. It’s about focus. It’s about turning your attention to the things you need to be the person you want to be, no matter what or who that person is. Imagine who you would be if you achieved all your goals. Can you see yourself? What are you doing? What do you look like? How are you feeling? Maybe you are you the person you want to be. Confident, successful, talented, happy, physically fit?

Take the time, create the time in 2008 and live like you’ve got all the time in the world.
